Thanks to the combination of ideal weather and healthy, maturing grapevines, 1990 provided us a remarkable Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that was big and lush, yet balanced and harmonious.
Aside from a slightly reduced crop resulting from rain in the spring months, 1990 was an ideal growing season for the remaining fruit on the vine in Alexander Valley. When the last of the clouds passed, a long summer with minimal temperature extremes allowed for perfectly balanced vineyards and uniformity of the fruit-profile development.
A more robust version of the 1980 vintage, the 1990 Jordan is still lively with dried cherry and plum leading the aromatics, with pleasant nuances of forest floor, eucalyptus, tobacco and tea making up the background. The finish is long, silky, complex and complete. The harmony and balance of this vintage is beautifully conveyed in this wine’s aging ability. All bottle formats are drinking beautifully and ready for consumption, though mature, savory characteristics are more present in the 750mL and 1.5L bottlings.
