A challenging vintage, 1989 required creativity to fight bad weather and craft a quality, long-lived Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 1989 harvest was very rainy with constant cloud cover throughout Sonoma County. We hired a helicopter to fly over our vineyards and "blow dry" the vines to save the fruit.
Two decades later, this wine shows earthy notes on the nose with a nice aged Bordeaux character, and still-lively French oak. The palate is soft and silky, with mouthwatering acidity, and notes of cedar, dried fruit and tea leaf. The 750mL is past its prime. For larger formats, drink now.
