Join us for Tuesday Night Hive in Chicago, the 2015 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Launch Party celebrating wine, design and music.
Taste history at an unforgettable evening of wine, design and music to celebrate Jordan Winery’s 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon—our first vintage aged in all French oak. Hosted by Jordan’s long-time winemaker Rob Davis, this festive evening features a one-of-a-kind Jordan wine “hive” created from 231 wine barrel staves by Chicago’s DMAC Architecture and artist Randy Davidson of Restoration Creative—an incredible sculpture that doubles as a wine bar. The hive’s cylindrical design pays homage to the intersection of science and art in winemaking, inspired by the molecular structure of wine and its energy, and one lucky bidder will take the hive home at the end of the evening.
With panoramic views of the Chicago River and the city’s skyline, The Rooftop at Gibsons Italia—which won Chicago’s 2018 Eater Award winner for Most Beautiful Restaurant of the Year—offers the perfect backdrop for this cocktail-style reception filled with wine, food, music and design. An array of Gibsons Italia’s signature dishes will be served from salmon crudo and crabmeat avocado parfait to bruschetta and meatballs—paired with tastes of the Jordan Cuvée by Champagne AR Lenoble, 2017 Jordan Chardonnay, 2013 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon in magnum, and 2015 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon in both 750mL and 18-liter Melchior. Holding 24 bottles in one giant vessel, the rare Melchior will be served alongside two artisanal products made with historic 2015 vintage: a cow and sheep’s milk cheese made by local Caputo Cheese Market and a salame buio from Sonoma County’s Journeyman Meat Co.
After a special tasting of a never-released wine from the “hive,” Chicago’s own Rachel Barton Pine, an internationally acclaimed violinist and philanthropist, will perform an intimate concert followed by a live auction of the wine “hive” sculpture with all proceeds benefiting the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation. The Rachel Barton Pine Foundation supports and encourages talented young string players from challenging financial backgrounds, advocates for diversity in classical music, and acquaints people from all walks of life with the rich heritage of classical music.
