Particular to the 1998 growing season was the protracted fertilization of the grape clusters due to the long, cool, wet spring. Quality requires sacrifice – already facing a small crop, we dropped additional clusters to achieve a crop of uniform maturity. Classy, restrained and elegant with aromas and flavors of pure red raspberry and cassis underlain by an elegant acid backbone and a complex potpourri of herbs, spice and dried cherry fruit. This is a multi-dimensional wine with mature aromas and flavors. The 750mL is at peak, while the 1.5L will peak in 2013.
