Tom and Sally Jordan purchase 275 acres in Alexander Valley

1974

The Jordans decide to build a winery and acquire more than 1,300 acres for the Jordan Estate

1976

André Tchelistcheff is hired as winemaking consultant

Winemaker Rob Davis is hired

First Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes are harvested

Winery construction is completed

1979

First Chardonnay grapes are harvested

1980

First Cabernet Sauvignon is released from the 1976 vintage

1981

First Chardonnay is released from the 1979 vintage

1984

Canada becomes Jordan's first international market

1986

Jordan wines are served at the White House Inaugural Celebration

1987

Jordan wines are served at the White House for guest Mikhail Gorbachev

1990

Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon earns #1 ranking by Wine & Spirits Restaurant Poll (also ranked #1 in 1991—1994, 2001—2004, 2008 and 2011—2013)

Jordan sources its first Russian River Valley Chardonnay grapes

1995

First planting of Italian varietal olive trees on the Estate

1996

First hillside vineyards planted on the Jordan Estate

1998

First vintage of Jordan Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil harvested

1999

Jordan harvests estate hillside vineyards for the first time

Jordan achieves Sonoma Green Business Program certification

2000

Jordan transitions its Chardonnay to the Russian River Valley appellation

2003

Executive Chef Todd Knoll joins the winery

2005

John Jordan named CEO

Additional Petit Verdot vines planted on the estate, increasing its role in our Cabernet Sauvignon blend

Rob Davis sources grapes from local growers in coveted pockets of the region to complement our finest estate lots

2007

Extensive energy efficiency and water recycling initiatives begin

2008

Ranch Manager Brent Young joins the winery

Jordan Estate Rewards is launched

2009

Soil mapping study of estate begins as part of precision farming philosophy

Jordan achieves carbon-neutral energy usage

2010

Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing certification process begins

Fish Friendly Farming certification process begins

Jordan decreases carbon footprint by nearly 25 percent since 2006

2012

American-made solar panel arrays installed hillside on the estate to satisfy 75% of our energy needs

Jordan celebrates its 40th anniversary with a cross-country celebration and art competition

Jordan certified as a Fish Friendly Farming vineyard

Jordan becomes the first winery profiled by Apple Inc. small business for its use of iPads
